Fictional Books

Hello 3rd and 4th graders!

Okay, now that we have started thinking about non-fiction books, I want to talk about fictional books.

A fictional book is one that describes imaginary events and people.

For example, Harry Potter is a fictional book (even though we wish it were real!)

What are some of your favorite fictional books?

What are they about? Share yours in the comments!

Grammar Practice - Who, Which and Where

Hey!

Read the rules and fill in the gaps with the correct word: where, which or who.

We use:

  • Who when we talk about people,
  • Which when we talk about things and
  • Where when we talk about places.

1. Workhouses were special places …………poor people lived.

2. The food ………...the boys ate included porridge three times a day and an onion twice a week.

3. Mr Bumble was a man ………...worked in the workhouse.

4. The room ………...Mr Bumble looked Oliver was cold and dark.

5. Mr Sowerberry was a man ………...made coffins for dead bodies. Many of the dead bodies came from the workhouse.

6. Mr Bumble looked at Oliver's face ………...was covered in tears.

Good luck!

Leah

Non-fiction Books

Hello!

Today I would like you to tell me about your favorite or the most recent non-fiction book that you've read.

What was it about? Did you like it? Who wrote it? Why were you interested in it?

If you haven't read a non-fiction book - tell us a subject that you would be interested to read a book about - for example a famous historical figure or your favorite animal.
