As you know we looked at the second conditional in this week's online classes!
Here is a reminder of how to form it:
If + Past Simple, + Would + Infinitive
Would + Infinitive + If + Past Simple
We use the second conditional when talking about future events that are not likely to happen.
E.g. If I had enough money, I would go to Japan.
Or:
I would go to Japan if I had enough money.
Now complete the sentences below to form the second conditional. Good luck 😊
1. If I _________ (know) her name, I _________ (tell) you.
2. If I _________ (win) the lotto, I __________ (travel) the world.
3. If you __________ (go) to bed earlier, you __________ (be) less tired.
4. I __________ (work) in Italy if I __________ (speak) Italian.
5. If I __________ (fly) to London, I ___________ (visit) you.
Now, can you complete the sentences with your own ideas? Don't forget to use the second conditional.
1. If I listened to my teachers, I...
2. If I went outside, I...
3. I would buy a big house with a swimming pool if...
4. I would go to the supermarket if...
5. If I swam in the sea in winter, I...
Can you create 3 of your own sentences using the second conditional?
